Inside an MLB Destination Wedding at St. Regis Kanai Resort

For San Diego Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth and sports broadcaster Brooke Fletcher, a destination wedding was never just about the ceremony itself. The couple envisioned an entire wedding weekend that felt immersive, intentional, and deeply—a multi-day celebration later featured in People.

Hosted at The St. Regis Kanai Resort in Riviera Maya created a unique, otherworldly experience. Set against the dramatic architecture and lush mangrove landscape of Mexico’s Riviera Maya, the weekend welcomed approximately 130 guests for a celebration that felt both deeply personal and effortlessly elevated. Every event was designed to capture a different layer of the couple’s story, from their shared love of sports and music to their appreciation for meaningful design and unforgettable hospitality.

The celebrations officially began Friday with a day centered around two things Brooke and Jake love most: sports and spending time with their closest friends.

Guests arriving early spent the afternoon split between tennis matches and golf at El Camaleón LIV Golf Course, setting an energetic tone for the weekend ahead.

That evening, everyone gathered for a vibrant welcome party at the resort. Inspired by the local culture and landscape, the evening featured elevated Mexican cuisine including ceviche, tacos, guacamole, and churros, paired with flamenco-style music from Jesus & Julissa of Nativo Producciones.

Candlelight, organic florals, native greenery, and earthy textures transformed the space into an elevated interpretation of Riviera Maya itself — sophisticated without feeling overly formal.

The evening concluded with the iconic St. Regis sabrage ceremony, welcoming guests into the weekend ahead.

Saturday’s celebration embraced a softer, more romantic atmosphere while still maintaining the effortless energy that defined the weekend.

Brooke wore a signature Ines Di Santo gown inspired by the movement of ocean waves, a fitting reflection of both the setting and the design narrative woven throughout the celebration. Bridesmaids wore elegant Amsale gowns in complementary tones.

Following the ceremony, guests transitioned into an evening of cocktails, elegant dining, and nonstop celebration.

Dinner featured a plated menu with selections including filet mignon, chicken breast, and mushroom risotto, followed by a four-tier vanilla buttercream cake with an ocean-inspired wave design and a mango sorbet with tajín cart.

Music remained one of the most important elements of the evening. The Taylor Pace Orchestra of Jordan Kahn Music Company kept the dance floor packed throughout the reception before DJ Dulce Rullan took over the after-party.

On Sunday, the weekend closed with a relaxed and playful energy.

The resort’s Jack’s Club was temporarily transformed into “Jake’s Club” for a farewell pool party inspired by the couple’s shared love of sports and laid-back entertaining.

Guests spent the afternoon poolside enjoying cocktails, football watch parties, games, music, and one final chance to soak in the Riviera Maya sunshine before heading home.

While the stunning Riviera Maya setting certainly made for a dream backdrop, Brooke and Jake emphasized that the heart of the weekend was simply being surrounded by the people they love most.
