At Marquette Avenue Events, now known as Michigan Avenue Events, we believe that there is nothing more rewarding than providing our clients with one of the most spectacular days of their lives! Every Bride and Groom who come to us for assistance in planning is different... That difference is what drives our creative souls and makes us tick! We LOVE that no two stories are ever alike and we take great pride sharing our clients lives through the intricate details of their wedding events. In June of 2015 the narrative in the celebration of love deepened in a profound way. The Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court ruling triumphantly legalized same sex unions across The United States. This wasn't just a win for those fighting for their rights in conservative states, but it was an exponential victory for our nation and the entire world - what we felt was a nation of progress. Given the current state of affairs, we believe that there is no better time to come together to protect and celebrate LGBTQ rights for unions of love with the development of our latest project, A Love Supreme!

In the largest wedding celebration of its kind in Chicago at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel, A Love Supreme symbolizes an inclusive, joyous celebration of marriage and unity. The wedding event seeks to unify the many circles of the city’s community, forging connections and strengthening ties with one another with the underlying message that in Chicago, love always wins! By celebrating love together in a shared space, A Love Supreme invites all kinds of love to be married collectively to honor the advances made as a community and nation back in 2015. Additionally we are excited to share that a portion of the proceeds will benefit Howard Brown Health, an esteemed LGBTQ leader in our community.

The Details

All featured event spaces are wheelchair accessible, and the bathrooms used will be gender neutral facilities. The language used in all materials as well as remarks, including ones given by the wedding officiant, fondly regarded LGBTQ community leader + Chicago personality Kristen Kaza, will be mindful of all genders and sexualities.

Ceremony Officiant + Reception Entertainment Courtesy of SLO ‘MO: "Slo 'Mo: Slow Jams for Homos" (and their fans) with Kristen Kaza and Audio Jack is a party that unites people of all identities, bodies and expressions through the celebration of slow jams and community. Pre-Ceremony: Couples will meet LGBTQ community leader and Chicago personality Kristen Kaza to become acquainted with her joyful communication style, so to know what to expect and look forward to at the ceremony. Ceremony: Kristen Kaza presides over the 15-couple ceremony as officiant. Reception: Slo 'Mo's resident DJ Audio Jack will guide the reception in the spirit of their widely-acclaimed dance parties, featuring R&B, jazz, and funk from the 70s to today; music that gets everyone out of their seat on the dance floor!

Photography Courtesy Of Rose Photo: Telling your story is our favorite thing to do. Creating a relationship with each of you, learning your history and plans allows Rose Photo to authentically capture memories and emotions with our lens. Your story is unique, beautiful and full of love. Every image should be, too. Rose Photo offers all A Love Supreme participants individual pre-ceremony sessions, as well as ceremony, reception, and portrait photos.

Wedding Filmmaking Courtesy Of LEAP Weddings: LEAP Weddings has blended a classic approach to wedding filmmaking with their distinct storytelling resulting in cutting-edge films that are reflection of your distinct personalities – something you'll (really) love for years to come! Their priority during the wedding day is to honor the experience of the couple and to showcase that through their films. LEAP Weddings will provide 4 shooters to capture the day and deliver three videos including: the ceremony, reception, and a docu-style film reflecting this unique experience.

Floral Arrangements Courtesy of Artistic Blooms: Adam Havrilla AIFD, CFD, ICPF prides himself on offering original and artistic floral design with the highest quality blooms from around the world. Because each love is unique, Adam and his team of floral artists work closely with the couple to tailor each design perfectly. Artistic Blooms customizes floral arrangements for each couple, in addition to maintaining each couple’s taste in decorations throughout the large scale ceremony.

Charity Partner: Howard Brown Health: To further the commitment to inclusive love and in the spirit of building community, A Love Supreme is partnering with Chicago’s own Howard Brown Health. Howard Brown Health exists to eliminate the disparities in healthcare experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through research, education and the provision of services that promote health and wellness.
