Whether you are a groom, bride-to-be or host/ess-with-the-most/est you want to be glowing the day of your event. While any makeup artist can make that happen with a luminous foundation and a pigmented highlighter, there is no glow quite like the one that comes from within. Luckily, we’re here to share some of our favorite tips to get you looking radiant, refreshed, and refined from the inside out!

Raise Your Glass

Drinking water seems to be the answer to everything. That’s because water works! Drinking water helps hydrate your skin and circulate nutrients throughout your body. It also helps to build new cells and will improve the texture and elasticity of your skin. Plus, by drinking more water, you will most likely drink less caffeinated drinks, which should allow you to sleep better at night.

MAE’s Tip: Adding fresh lemon and mint to your water will add a pop of flavor and help detox your body! Skinny Mom has some delicious detox water recipes that you won't want to miss!

Go to Bed Early

In addition to drinking more water, making sure to get plenty of sleep is key to obtaining that inner glow. At your event, all eyes will likely be on you and therefore you want to look well-rested and healthy! Unfortunately, only getting a good night’s rest the night before your event won’t do the trick. At least the week of your event, be sure to allow yourself 8 hours of sleep each night. This can easily be done by going to sleep just an hour or two earlier, and sleeping in a tad bit later. Your DVR & Netflix will do its duty with your favorite shows at a later date! Not only will you appear more well-rested, but you’ll be well-rested and have more energy to mingle with your guests all night long!

Cozy Up with a Cup of Green Tea

Green tea is something we recommend for everyone to introduce into their diet! With numerous benefits such as fighting signs of aging, flushing out toxins, and improving elasticity in skin, it would be silly not to boil up a simple, yet effective cup of green tea every day. In addition to those benefits, green tea can also reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffy eyes—two things that can be very difficult to cover with make up.

MAE’s Tip: Have fun with tea varietals! We love the options that David's Tea & Teavana offer! Experiment with flavors and caffeination levels to find your all-time favorite boost throughout the day.

Get Moving

Pure Barre

Leading up to your event, you may feel a bit anxious or stressed. This is completely normal! One way to relieve some of that stress is to work it right out of your system. For at least thirty minutes per day leading up to your event, pencil in a quick workout. Take a barre class, throw a few punches at kickboxing, or get your feet moving with a brisk jog on the lake or treadmill! Working out does wonders for your body, and also for your mental health. It helps boost your memory, increases happiness, and is a great stress reliever!

MAE's Favorite: Yoga not only elongates your physique but detoxes and de-stresses you too! We love traditional Bikram yoga offered at 105F and candlelit evening yoga at CorePower!

Take Your Vitamins

If you are constantly on the go, it is important to ensure that your body is getting all of the nutrients it needs. Taking daily vitamins is an essential step! One of our favorite brands who advocates for well-being and nutrition is Vital Proteins. We love how Vital Proteins boosts immunity, strengthens bones and builds collagen throughout your body. Vital Proteins wellness products come in the best flavors and forms to help you Stay Vital especially leading up to your wedding day.

Deficiencies in certain nutrients can cause symptoms such as fatigue and irritability. In order to make sure you are the best version of yourself at your event, make sure you’re staying well-balanced by getting your daily nutrients which can be supported or enhanced by the right supplements. These days there are vitamins for everything, in practically every form, including gummies and blending through your favorites smoothies! Note: Before introducing new vitamins into your routine, we recommend giving a quick call to your general practitioner or nutritionist.

Watch What You Eat

Following our previous tip, it’s important to eat healthy—especially the week of your event! The best source of nutrients are choosing the right foods - superfoods! When eating healthy, avoid processed sugars and excess salt. Sugars tend to raise blood pressure and is one of the main causes of inflammation and with salty foods you are likely to retain water. If you’re looking to eat something sweet, satisfy your craving with a food that is naturally sweet, like blackberries, raspberries, and avocados. We are certainly not recommending you start a whole new diet the week of your event, but to simply select greens, fruits, and proteins over other options!

MAE’s Tip: If you are always on-the-go, try bringing raw juices with you throughout the day to sneak in your daily doses of fruits and vegetables. We love the variety at BluePrint juices!

Stress is not your friend. It keeps you awake at night, channels anxiety, mood swings, and can make you feel very fatigued. The week of your event, if not way sooner, set the right environment. Breathing exercises, working out, and using aromatherapy candles or oils can all work wonders. One thing we do best as wedding and event planners is always keeping the calm for our clients and ourselves everyday! Find out what works best for you to de-stress your life.

MAE's Tip: To create Om in your home, while traveling, or even in your office, we recommend applying or using clean burning essential oils. Our favoriting calming scents are Lavender, Vanilla, Rose and Jasmine. Some of our favorites products come from NOW which you can find at your local Whole Foods or organic foods market. And lately, our go-to source for instant calm is incense from Maroma India. Our current favorite scents are Cedar Lavender and Pine!

Following these tips should have you a little bit closer to looking and feeling your amazing self by the time of your event! You will feel refreshed, relaxed, and ready to take on the day! Don’t be surprised if people comment on how you’re “just glowing” during your event—you deserve it after all!
