What is your best advice for engaged couples?

As a luxury wedding planner I believe that the most successful weddings begin with a strong sense of identity. I encourage couples to define what matters most to them before outside opinions enter the conversation. When parents or family members are contributing to the celebration, it’s natural for additional perspectives to emerge. Having a clear vision from the start allows couples to honor those important relationships while still creating an experience that feels deeply personal, intentional and true to their story.

What is something you constantly strive for?

Over the past two decades of event planning my goals have always remained resolute: To ensure our clients have an exceptional, value-laden experience from the origination of their planning, through their celebration and even after the weekend has ended. We are planners who remain available to our clients months and even years after their celebrations conclude. When customizing our clients' milestones, venue sourcing, vendor alignment and creative design concepting are an important reflection of our couples' unified aesthetic. When all of these elements pair with exceptional hospitality, that is where you find the magic! When actualized these poignant moments allow the clients, their loved ones and even the partners to feel completely immersed in the celebration. Whether we spend months collaborating with our clients or they place complete trust in our vision, we don’t stop refining until every detail feels intentional, elevated and 150% worthy of their celebration.

How should newly engaged couples approach budgeting for their wedding?

One of the most important roles as a top wedding planner is establishing trust and helping couples understand exactly what their investment can realistically achieve while maximizing experiential elements. At Michigan Avenue Events, we believe our clients deserve transparency. This means providing real-world examples of the forthcoming guest experience, presenting design scale, explaining which details will be memorable, sourcing niche entertainment and providing production elements that are worthwhile at various investment levels.

From million dollar budgets to more modest investment ranges, the comps that we provide to our clients allow them to make great decisions. We believe that wedding planning is about providing realistic expectations, generating proactive solutions and helping our clients understand the relationship between vision, guest count, investment and outcome.
